The Lady with the Dog (Russian: Дама с собачкой, translit. Dama s sobachkoy)

 is a 1960 Soviet drama film directed by Iosif Kheifits.

In the Nineteenth Century, at the seaside resort of Yalta, the upper class Dimitri Gurov from Moscow meets Anna Sergeyovna walking with her little dog. Both have unhappy marriages: 

Dimitri has a marriage of convenience arranged by the family when he was a college boy 

and Anna married a lackey for love that has gone, and they have a love affair. When 

Anna returns to Saratov and Dimitri to Moscow, he has a boring life at home, spending 

his time working and going to the club after hours alone to drink and play cards with 

his friends. On Christmas, Dimitri misses Anna and lies to his wife, telling that he has 

a business trip to Saint Petersburg. However, he heads to Saratov and he meets 

Anna in the Opera House with her husband. Their love kindles and Anna promises

 to meet him in Moscow. In a period when divorce would be unthinkable, 

Anna and Dimitri are doomed to meet each other in hotel rooms.

directed by Revaz Chkheidze based on a script by Suliko Jghenti.

During World War II, Georgy Makharashvili, an old peasant wine-grower, leaves his

Georgian village and goes off to the front lines to find his son, a wounded soldier. 

But before the father can get to the hospital, the son has been sent back to the

 front. The father cannot go back to his village, so he accompanies the 

Soviet Army all the way to the final victory over Fascism in Berlin.

The day after the funeral of Varlam Aravidze, the mayor of a small Georgian town,

his corpse turns up in his son's garden and is secretly reburied. But the corpse

keeps returning, and the police eventually capture a local woman, who is 

accused of digging it up. She says that Varlam should never be laid to

rest because he was responsible for a Stalin-like reign of terror that led

 to the disappearance of many of her friends...
